FTL: Hyperspace

What it does
Section titled “What it does”Hyperspace is a hard-coded mod, sometimes called an exe mod. It patches the game binary to lift limits the modding tools alone cannot reach.
That backend makes possible things that simply were not before: completely new races with their own stats, a ship selector with infinite pages, and augments that combine into entirely new ones. Seeded runs are built in too, so you can enter a seed before starting, disable unlocks, and replay a run or race someone else through the same map.
It also brings quality-of-life fixes to plain FTL, like a numerical hull indicator for both you and your enemy.
The largest mod built on it is FTL: Multiverse, and the install guides above cover setting it up alongside Hyperspace.
For mod makers
Section titled “For mod makers”Most of what Hyperspace exposes is documented in data/hyperspace.xml inside
Hyperspace.ftl. Use a hyperspace.xml.append and add the tags your mod needs.
Ship your mod expecting the player to download Hyperspace separately and patch it first. For the best compatibility with other mods, do not redistribute Hyperspace’s resource files or binaries, just point people at the download in your forum post.
The Lua API for 1.2.0 and above lives in the wiki, along with the rest of the developer documentation. Improvements are welcome: open an issue on GitHub with a markdown snippet or a link to a clone of the wiki repository.
Come talk to us in the Hyperspace channels on the FTL Multiverse Discord.
